Documents Required for BIS Registration

                                1. Name and address proof of office and unit
                                2. Trademark certificate if available
                                3. Proof of business such as incorporation certificate/partnership deed/ firm registration certificate
                                4. MSME/ SSI certificate, if applicable
                                5. Complete Manufacturing process flow covering all processes of manufacture
                                6. List of Manufacturing machinery along with the machine details
                                7. Details of outsourcing of manufacturing operation, if applicable
                                8. A detailed list of testing facilities and testing equipment list
                                9. Copies of valid calibration certificates of testing equipment
                                10. Third-party laboratory test report as per Indian Standards, if applicable
                                11. Layout plan of the factory premises & location plan of the factory
                                12. In-house or independent test report, if applicable
                                13. In case the application is signed by the authorized signatory, the authorisation letter from CEO in the authorized signatory name

Cost of BIS Registration

The government Fee for BIS registration is subject to type of registration and type of BIS standard applicant is eligible for. Therefore the cost of registration and BIS marking cost with the Bureau of Indian Standard can vary product wise.

Validity & renewal of BIS Certification

The BIS certification, which is issued by the BIS, remains valid for one years. In case there are no modifications to the relevant products or prescribed standards, manufacturers are eligible to renew their BIS certification.

BIS Registration Process

 

The process of obtaining IS certification from Bureau of Indian Standards can be classified into Four following steps:-

Step-1:- Documentation & Filling of application

The applicants are required to Apply online for BIS registration on the portal and have to provide all the asked documents as well as the required fee as per BIS schemes.

Step-2:- Preliminary Inspection by BIS authority

Once the application is successfully submitted an office will visit the manufacturing unit to carry out preliminary Inspection and verification

Step-3:- Sample testing or Product testing

Once the Preliminary inspection or survey of the manufacturing unit is done. A sample of the product will be taken by the officer and sent to independent labs for testing purposes. Once the BIS licensing authority is satisfied with the test report a performance review report will be prepared for further process.

Step-4:- Issuance of BIS certification and Marking

After the completion of inspection and testing. The Licensing authority will review the report and based on that. The BIS certificate will be granted to the applicants.
