Process of BIS FMCS Registration for Electrical Transformers

Preparation: Manufacturers who have established their factories outside India need FMCS certification to trade in India. For this, the manufacturer has to assemble all the documents required during the registration process. The documents include a business license, declaration of conformity, list of machinery, testing facilities available at the site, and many others. Essentially, the manufacturer has to accept all the Terms and Conditions of BIS.

Registration Form: After assembling all the required documents, the manufacturer has to register themselves and pay the registration fee to obtain an FMCS license. The manufacturer can apply online at the BIS portal as well and they can apply offline by providing all the documents at the FMCD department in Delhi. He/she has to fill in the application form consisting of complete and correct details.

One such factor is that BIS authorities visit the factory premises to examine the entire process of production that occurs in the factory. BIS authorities assess the factory location, efficiency of machinery used, quality control parameters, manufacturing process, etc.

Product Sample: BIS authorities collect the sample of Electrical Transformers to assess their quality, efficiency, reliability, and safety standards. The sample is assessed at the In-house laboratory as well as at the BIS-approved laboratory for a better understanding of the compliance.

Laboratory Results: If the laboratory results are negative which means that the electrical transformer is not in compliance with the BIS standards, the process of granting a license is terminated. However, if the laboratory results are positive which means that the electrical transformer complies with the BIS standards, the process of granting an FMCS license progresses further.

Issuance of Certification: Lastly, the manufacturer has to pay for the license fee and advance minimum marking fee. After the successful completion of payments and the above-mentioned processes, an FMCS license is granted to the organization.
